One of the top social media marketing trends in 2013 was the use of visual content such as images and video with channels like Pinterest, Instagram and Vine. This trend is getting more and more followers and it looks like it will be on the rise in 2014.
Using visual content is a great way to communicate and engage with your audience, yet many businesses are not using images or photos stating they do not know what kind of content to share.
Here’s 5 ways that you can use images and video in your Social Media Marketing:
- Show your brand’s human side
Social media is a great place to show a brand’s human side. What better way to do that than by using images and videos? Show your staff at work, at an event or with a client. Show the interior of your offices or your company’s cat doing funny faces…show who you are ‘behind the scenes’ in an engaging way that gives your audience the opportunity to relate and connect with you.
- Share content that strikes an emotion
Show images and videos that make your audience laugh, cry, and think. Make them feel positive. A great way of doing this is by using memes. Memes are photos that are designed with little text. They are light hearted and fun. This is a way for marketers to creatively get their ideas across. When used correctly, memes can generate a lot of attention.
- Show your company at events
This works really well for brands that regularly attend trade events, conferences or exhibitions and other events. Post live images and videos from those events showing really interesting stuff that appeals to your audience and/or images and videos of your staff with clients, partners or with influential people.
This not only can be very interesting for your audience, but it also enhances your industry reputation.
- Teach your audience
Create images and videos that teach your audience something. It can be a problem-solving video or how to use a product, or it can be a great infographic about your industry. Infographics give businesses a way to repurpose information, such as blog posts, into a new, influential way. Using infographics is a creative way to drive traffic back to your website.
- User-generated content
Create contests where you encourage your customers and followers to share images and videos using your products. For example, if you work on promoting a travel destination, make your audience share pictures of themselves in that location. This is not only a great and free way to promote and market your products, but it is also a great way to have new and fresh visual content on a long-term basis.
