As many of us have already been working from home or will have to start in the next days/weeks, I’ve put together a few tips and tricks that have worked for me in the past week of working from home. I hope you find them helpful too:
Create a plan for the day and establish a routine
Having a plan for the day and sticking to it will keep you motivated and focused and you’ll be less likely to become sidetracked.
Having a daily routine personally helps me to stay calm and carry on. I also try to work as closely as possible to the way I work in the office – I wake up at the same time every day and finish work at the same time. I find this injects a bit of normality in my days and I don’t feel as stressed.
Try to stay active at home
It’s still important to stay as active as you can. Even a small amount of activity will have a positive impact on your physical and mental health, and there’s plenty you can do at home.
Try to break up long periods of sitting by getting up and moving for at least five minutes each hour. You could put on your favourite tunes and have a dance, or walk up and down the stairs.
If you want to take it one step further (pun intended), here are some workout videos that I’ve been using:
Eat well and stay hydrated
While I’m tempted to just snack all day long (the biscuit jar is *right* there on the kitchen counter), eating well affects you in a positive way and if you prep meals in the beginning of the week, it will be easier to stay on track.
Staying hydrated is equally as important, however it’s *so* easy to completely forget about drinking water while working at home. I recommend using an app to remind you to drink water throughout the day.
Mental health and wellbeing
