Good SEO should be engrained in all aspects of your Online Marketing and Social Media but since SEO is constantly changing you need the best SEO tools available that can help you get the very best organic search results for your website.

Here at SocialB we’ve compiled this list of our 5 favourites “go-to” SEO tools and explain why they are great:

Moz (formerly SEOMoz)

Moz is probably the biggest SEO community around. It offers you a service that gives you full access to their own SEO tools including their new ‘web app’ feature- this monitors rankings, links and makes recommendations for the optimization of your site.

It’s a great tool for in-house SEOs and large sites. We like it especially because it’s an evolving product and new features and pro SEO tools are regularly added, like Followerwonk, a very useful Twitter analysis tool.

Raven is a fully hosted web app and its biggest selling point is the sheer amount of integration it provides with 3rd party SEO tools to pull all your campaign data together. It’s got a slick interface neatly integrating Google Analytics data to produce nice looking client performance reports quickly and easily, which makes it a very useful tool.

This is a wonderful resource for keyword research. You can spy on your competition to see which keywords are most frequently used to access their website. This can be useful when assessing which keywords you’d like to include on your website to obtain better organic search results. The top queries for search traffic, trends, and those all-important search terms and phrases are displayed and can be used to help you with keyword selection for your website.

WordPress SEO by Yoast

WordPress is one of the best content management systems when it comes to SEO.
If your website happens to be a WordPress site, WordPress by Yoast is one of the easiest, most user-friendly SEO tools out there. This tool allows you to optimise your posts, pages, etc. easily as you build out and add content to your site.

As SEO tools go, we especially like this because it’s very simple and easy to use, just like SEO should be.

Google AdWords Keyword Tool (renamed keyword planner in 2013)

The most valuable use of AdWords for SEO is to research keywords and it’s very simple to use. You can either enter the URL of your site or put in some seed keywords, the tool will then automatically generate a whole bunch of suggested keywords. Look at the results and shortlist all the keywords that seem relevant and have a decent global search volume.

Bonus tool: Ontolo

Ontolo is one of the great SEO tools out there, it allows you to check for quality link prospects. It has a great keyword research standard, which finds you the targeted words or phrases with lots of prospective also with categorisation. For guest posting, this tool suggests where to post your article and which site would be more suitable for posting your article as a guest.

We find these 5 SEO tools to be the most useful, but SEO tools don’t stop here. There are many other very useful tools out there. Which ones are you using in your SEO strategy? Let us know in the comments box below.
